Introduction to Cutting Edge Blogs...

This blog is intended for commentary on guests and topics raised by Jim Rodger's Tucson-based community access cable TV program The Cutting Edge. This show focuses on UFOs, ancient mysteries, frontier science, paranormal experiences, and the like -- and all associated controveries. All bloggers are responsible for the content of their own postings. We encourage DISCUSSION here, not name-calling or ad hominem attack, and certainly not libelous statements. Skeptics and even debunkers of course are free to join the fray, but be aware that the dominant viewpoints we wish to attract will converge on the point that the tides of logic and critical thinking are turning in sympathy for the truth of paranormal experiences. And dogmatic debunkers (which are to principled skeptics what moderate Christians are to rabid, inflexible fundamentalists) are forewarned that we possess an arsenal of information to reveal that their ideology is a discredited, ossified relic unfit for the 21st century. Of course people's subjective experience of the truth -- especially in such slippery areas as we focus on here -- will always be distorted by their personal biases, but we encourage as much objectivity and scientific thinking/forms of expression as possible. At the same time, we are keenly aware that many of these topics are outside the range of the current scientific paradigm. That won't stop us from continuing to push the envelope (to name drop a meaningful but overused cliche), in the manner of Prof. Mark Woodhouse ("Paradigm Wars: Worldviews For a New Age") and Tucson's own Dr. Gary Schwartz ("The Afterlife Experiments: Breakthrough Scientific Evidence of Life After Death"). At the same time, New Age True Believers who believe that claiming is the same as proving, or who dismiss standards of proof altogether as "negative thinking", are admonished that I for one will subject them on these boards to the same level of scrutiny as I demand of skeptics and debunkers.
